Terms of Service

Effective: March 26, 2026

1. Acceptance of Terms

By accessing or using Votr ("the Platform"), you agree to be bound by these Terms of Service. If you do not agree, do not use the Platform.

2. Description of Service

Votr is a voter-centric civic technology platform that pairs American voters with politicians on their ballot based on empirical actions — voting records, legislative behavior, and measurable political conduct. Votr is an informational tool, not an official government resource, voting guide, or curriculum.

3. Information Tool Disclaimer

The Platform provides political information compiled from public data sources for educational and informational purposes only. Votr does not endorse, recommend, or oppose any candidate, party, or political position. Information may contain errors or be incomplete. Always verify with your local election authority before voting. Do not rely on AI-generated outputs as your sole source of political information.

4. Anti-Coercion and Anti-Indoctrination

You may not use the Platform to pressure, coerce, or compel any individual regarding their political views, voting decisions, or assessment results. You may not use the Platform to indoctrinate or systematically influence political beliefs. Sharing assessment results must always be voluntary.

5. Use by Minors

The Platform is intended for users aged 13 and older. Users between 13 and 17 should use the Platform with parental or guardian awareness. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13 in compliance with COPPA. If you are an educator using Votr with students, you are responsible for obtaining any required parental consent under PPRA and applicable state law.

6. Data Handling

Your political profile (assessment results, alignment scores) is computed entirely on your device and never transmitted to our servers. This is our Privacy by Impossibility architecture — we cannot access your political profile because we never possess it. See our Privacy Policy for full details on data collection and handling.

7. AI-Generated Content

Certain features of the Platform use artificial intelligence to process and summarize political information. AI outputs may be inaccurate, incomplete, or biased. AI-generated content is clearly labeled where applicable. You should independently verify any AI-generated information before relying on it.

8. User Conduct

You agree not to: (a) attempt to access other users' data or profiles; (b) interfere with or disrupt the Platform's operation; (c) use automated tools to scrape or harvest data beyond normal usage; (d) misrepresent your identity or affiliation; (e) use the Platform for any unlawful purpose.

9. Platform Neutrality (Section 230)

Votr is a neutral platform that aggregates and presents public political data. We do not create, endorse, or editorialize the underlying political information. To the extent permitted by Section 230 of the Communications Decency Act, Votr is not liable for the accuracy or completeness of third-party data sources that we aggregate and display.

10. Indemnification

You agree to indemnify and hold harmless Votr, its operators, and affiliates from any claims, damages, or expenses arising from your use of the Platform, your violation of these Terms, or your violation of any third party's rights.

11. Limitation of Liability

THE PLATFORM IS PROVIDED "AS IS" WITHOUT WARRANTIES OF ANY KIND. IN NO EVENT SHALL VOTR BE LIABLE FOR ANY INDIRECT, INCIDENTAL, SPECIAL, OR CONSEQUENTIAL DAMAGES ARISING FROM YOUR USE OF THE PLATFORM. OUR TOTAL LIABILITY SHALL NOT EXCEED THE AMOUNT YOU PAID US IN THE 12 MONTHS PRECEDING THE CLAIM.

12. Changes to Terms

We may update these Terms from time to time. Material changes will be posted on this page with an updated effective date. Continued use of the Platform after changes constitutes acceptance of the revised Terms.
